It's Addie! I'm either at lesson, working, or lost my phone again, so leave a message, and once I remember where I left it, I'll get back to you.
Have a good day!

Aunt Genevive called this morning to wish Eirny and me (I? It's 'me', isn't it?) a Happy Thanksgiving. She's from Earth, and keeps track of all these holidays even though she hasn't been back here in years.
Eirny and I weren't planning on celebrating, but since she mentioned it, I've been thinking. I don't think I can make a full turkey, but I can probably pull together a ham, and I know I can do potatoes, and green beans, and stuffing, and pie. All the really important stuff.
But two people can't eat that. Anyone up for a last-minute Thanksgiving dinner?

EDIT (courtesy of Wyn): I'm making a shitload of food, come eat it or I'll hunt you down.

Little kids (and 12 counts as little) should never be given candy.
Not because they get hyper. Not because it's bad for their teeth. Not because it makes them sick.

Because they spend all day sorting it.

Okay, so on Halloween, Jack bought a boatload of those little rainbow smarties things. You know, the little ones in the plastic wrappers? Well, he bought so many that he gave three out to every kid who came trick-or-treating at the store, and still had a huge bowl for Eirny to take home.
Ree loves them.
She has also been spending the last four days unwrapping each package and organizing them into little candy rainbows on the coffee table.

It's a good thing we don't have a dog.

.005. Just Thinking.

I discovered the Corteo soundtrack at work today. (For those of you not in the know, Corteo is a performance by this theatrical acrobatics group called Cirque du Soleil. (That means Circus of the Sun, I think.))
Anyway, I've been listening to it over and over again, and it made me homesick. Ree knows--she's been very huggy since we got home. I don't regret coming here--I love Earth, and Heather Sky, and all of you, but it's hard not to see my family. Especially not knowing if everyone's safe...
I miss them.

Hard thoughts.

.004. Best thing ever.

As employers go, Jack is really cool. He puts up with me when I'm late, lets me listen to African music on the sound system, and grabs something for me whenever he goes to get coffee (though it does come out of my pay).

And then stuff like what happened today happens, and I never, ever, ever want to get off work.

Jack came back from running errands, dropped a box on the counter in front of me, and went into the back room.
The box had a tiny purple t-rex, a blue long-neck and a green stegosaurus inside. With a plastic palm tree.

I love my job.
